I am a BIG fan of the Karisma resorts in Mexico and Jamaica.  Karisma resorts include the El Dorado Resorts which are adult only and the Azul Resorts which are for everyone.   These are truly luxury all inclusive resorts.  So when they announced that they were going to be creating the Nickelodeon Resort in Punta Cana I was all in.

This new resort is brand new and beautiful. There are actually 2 resorts on this property,  Nickelodeon and Sensatori, but they are both Karisma resorts.  They also have a separate lobby for each resorts.  Also, Sensatori has an adult only section on their side of the property.   We were in a Pad Suite which had a king bed and pull out sofa. It also had a large balcony and amazing bathroom.  I thought it was a good size and very nice for an entry level room.  Also I liked that the Nickelodeon aspect of the resort is done in a very modern and tasteful. It is not characters plastered everywhere. There 8 different room categories some of which include their signature infinity pool or swim up suite. You will certainly find an option that fits your family as well as your vacation budget.

My favorite was the Pineapple Villa.  It had some amazing amenities. It is actually 2 floors, 2 bedrooms and 3 baths. It fits a family of 6.  It also comes with its own pool and butler.  Again, it has some fun Spongebob features but it is all done in a modern and fun way.

Of course, you can’t forget the great food.  The resort has the Gourmet village where most of the restaurants are located. At night they have activities and performers.  I have always been impressed with the food at all the Karisma resorts. Personally, they are at the top when it comes to the food you will find at most all inclusive resorts.  There are 10 restaurants and 2 bars to choose.   I loved Fresco.  It was also in my favorite little spot. I could sit, have access to the swim up bar and grab a snack.   I had the most amazing shrimp and mango ceviche.

Of course one of the favorite spots for the kids was the water park.  It is short distance from the main resort.  So you can walk or they have golf carts which can take you there as well as bring you back to your room.  The water park has a lazy river and a huge water play area.  Everyday at 3pm they do a mass SLIME.  They do offer a private slime option but you do have to make an appointment and it is a fee. However, they do a daily contest for one lucky family to get a free private slime.   The water park is part of a larger complex which also holds an amazing kids club and character meet/greet area.

Overall, I was very impressed with this resort.  It great for families of all sizes. It would be perfect for a family reunion, as well.  Since there are 2 resorts in one, if some family members would like an adult only they have that option.  As well, they offer weddings here too.

I would say though that it is really best for younger kids.  My oldest is 10 and he had a great time.  But I would say up to 12 years old might be a cut off.  They do not have a teen club right now so older kids might find it a bit “kiddie”.  However, there is the beach and they do offer non motorized water sports, like paddle boarding, etc. So there is plenty for them to do just no organized activities like they have for the kids 12 and under.

I know our family will be back to this resort for sure.  It is nice to see another great family option in the Dominican Republic.    Ready to go?
